LOL.
My mother always says that being a JW is a very abnormal lifestyle. But talk about leaving the org and there is hell to pay! It's a triumph when the authentic persona wins.
my dear old dad was the po of a congregation.
he had been in the british marines during ww2.. one jolly day we were in the coach park at twickenham convention.. dad was watching the brothers and sisters getting off the coaches.. he looked at me and said quite pained: 'they all look like loonies.'.
i kid you not..
LOL.

today nothing feels right.
i feel like a bystander to all things.
as if im nowhere and have no forward progression.
Some days are like that. It takes a lot of courage to leave a cult. The longer you've been in the stronger the emotions after you leave. I just remember the conditional nature of my old "friends" and that gets me headed in the right direction mentally. You must develop relationships outside of the cult and that takes time. Start w workmates, neighbors, maybe take a class.
You'll be ok. Stay strong.
well, i saw it.
you better get ready for everyone's talk about it.. it was 25 % biblical, 75 % fantasy.. noah was mean as a character, his family was great.
methusala, was an old fart..
Ditto. We sat through the whole thing and needed a drink afterwards. The trailers show awesome special effects but the artistic license taken was just beyond anything I would have thought up.
Horrible.
BTW I don't believe the biblical account.
LOL
a hungarian brother used to come up with some humdingers.
he was a child when his family escaped from hungary when the soviets came storming in about 1957. he would be at the door, a young person would answer, and he would ask him, 'what do you think of the situation?
' meanwhile the person is thinking, 'huh?".
I was working with a pioneer who had been in the circuit work til they were reassigned. We were out during the Xmas season and a woman came to the door. The pioneer flat out told the woman that xmas was satanic and she was wicked and was going to be destroyed at armaggedon real soon.
i just heard this about a co i knew back in the day before he was even a co. he must be in his mid-late 40's now, my mother told me the story as she knows the family very well (the entire family has gone 'apostate' including several elders, circuit overseers and missionaries - this was an "example" family, always on the stage etc).. he wasn't 'feeling well' so he took time off from his co duties.
that week he packed his suitcase, told his wife he can't do it anymore and he's leaving, leaves her the car and the house and went to live in a small apartment, bought a small car and a week later got a decent job.. this was very recent so not everybody within the org has heard yet what happened..
About 3 years ago a CO and his wife were on assignment with a congregation here didn't show up one morning for service. Wrote a brief letter saying they would not be back. The circuit was shocked. It's not that difficult to exit quickly if you get a plan together.
*clapping*
wifey says she wants to go to see the special effects.
i suspect she wants to go to see russell crowe.
if you want to see special effects watch gravity.
I'm taking my Dad to see it. I don't believe the story, but I like Russell Crowe, so it shouldn't be too bad for me.
the governing body not only lies to it's members about their true history but also about life itself, worldly people and former members.. here are some of those lies that come to my mind.. .
"jw's are the happiest people on earth" -.
fact: depression, anxiety, fear of punishment, paranoia, is what jw's live with every day.
Love it!
